Cornflower Silk Flowers
The cornflower, or batchelor's button, is a thistle shaped flower, usually in blue, that was once considered to be a weed that grew wildly in english meadows but has now been cultivated as a garden plant.
Interesting facts:
* cornflowers were used in the funeral wreath made for Tutankhamun.
* the cornflower is used as an emblem for the motor neurone disease association.
* in folklore, cornflowers were worn by young men in love; if the flower faded too quickly, it was taken as a sign that the man's love was not returned
* the cornflower is the star sign flower for Cancerians
