Hypericum Artificial and Silk Flowers

The hypericum, or St John's Wort, is a wonderful filler in bouquets. The berries add interest and texture. If cutting our silk version to use as a short stem don't forget to slide the leaves up the stem before cutting to create a more dense and compact sprig of berries and leaves.
 
Did you know that in olden times the hypericum was hung above pictures in a home to ward off evil spirits hence the name from the Greek words hyper (above) and eikon (a picture).

If you use a clear vase, you can hide the stems by wrapping the inside of the glass with a glossy leaf.
